Jerome's Buddies Page
Buddies

Ya know, the best part of this job of mine is when I hear from other Folds on the net. I started the Buddies page to showcase pics of other Folds who don't have their own home pages and it's become pretty popular. (Thank you, thank you very much.) They say that on the web content is everything, so in a blatantly shameless bid to add more content to my site, I thought, "Hmmmm... let's expand the Buddies coverage to include in-depth features and let other Folds tell their stories!"

When Cubby signed my guest book I knew right away that he had a real story to tell:

"My former owner named me Cubby because I have thick black hair like a small bear. She had to give me up so now I live with my 'step owner'. I have been thinking about running away to California to go back to her. My 'step owner' makes fun of me because he says I sit up like a rabbit and I have pityable little voice. He also laughs at me because I stick my tail straight up in the air. I just like to feel the breeze when I walk.

There is another cat in this house and he is really mean. I would like to play with him but he just starts a fight. I can hold my own when I am backed into a corner behind the chair legs. He is a picky eater and I finish his meal after I finish my own. My step owner says I am an 'eating machine' because I have such a good appetite."

Luckily, Cubby agreed to be my first Featured Buddy and convinced the cantankerous curmudgeon who is his "step owner" to send more pics and write the copy. So, without further ado, we present...

Cubby's Sad Tail

My name is Cubby and I used to have a wonderful life in Tampa, Florida with my sister, Amber. We lived with a beautiful caregiver named Patti and it was paradise.

Amber had a window to watch the world and sometimes she would wash me. I could sit in the sunroom and watch the birds. I thought someday I would go outside and catch a bird but I never did. Sometimes I played with my stuffed cow.

Patti always put real people tuna on all our meals and it was wonderful. Then a terrible thing happened to us...

Patti and Rob Patti fell in love with a big, handsome Marine named Rob. Rob goes to fun places like Beirut and Saudi Arabia and Somalia. Patti and Rob were married. I hear Rob is very brave. When a cake came to the wedding Rob attacked it with his sword. It made his sword messy, and I was glad. Hah!

Patti said we couldn't go with her to California. Rob really loves animals but it is not lucky to be around him because all his animals die and he puts their heads on the wall. He has a dog in Louisiana who won't live with him either. I bet his dog is ugly.

Patti said she would find us good homes and Amber now lives with Peggy. Amber was lucky because her step caregiver is pretty too and does not have any other pets.

I had to move in with Patti's parents, Charles and Lois, and a terrible Siamese named Sami. Sami thinks he is top cat just because he was here first.

Adorable Amber
Cubbylounging I am a really good kitty. I do all the cute Scottish fold things like reaching up and gently touching their arms when I need attention. (Yes, I "tap"!)

My main job is holding down a cushion on a kitchen chair. Other times I lounge in my corner or in the screened room, if I am not eating. I also do a modified "Buddha sit" with one leg up in the air!

Patti's Dad yells at me and says "Get the hell off my chair". He says I shed my hair. What's wrong with that? Rob has shed most of his hair and Patti loves him.

He calls me "tripod" because of the way I sit up when I want to look around. (Others call this the "prairie dog".)

Cubby doing the "tripod"
Cubbyin the sink Sometimes I enjoy laying in the bathroom sink. The curves fit my body just perfectly and it's nice and cool on a warm summer day.
Lois is the best! She made me a special quilt with cat patterns and sometimes sneaks me tuna. She tries to make me happy but I miss Patti. I go into ecstasy when Lois combs me. She says she gets enough fur to make another cat. I hope she doesn't. There is already one cat too many here...namely, Sami.

the evil Sami Siamese You know you cannot trust a Siamese because they are so sneaky and mean. Sometimes Sami comes up and gives me a nose to nose greeting and I give him a right paw upside the jaw. Then he chases me into a corner under the chair. Lois squirts water at Sami, but she should make him stay outside.

Actually Sami is really a wimp. I eat my meal fast and then go and eat Sami's. They try to make me eat that awful dry stuff because Sami likes it. Once Charles caught me eating it and thought I liked it but I don't. I sure miss Patti's tuna.

(Sami has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge. R.I.P.)

Once I snuck outside and was going to run away to California to see Patti but they caught me.

If you are on your way to California and see a little black kitty by the road please take me with you. Everybody in California will know Patti because she is so beautiful.
Cubby runs away to California

Cubby sent us a recent update:

I have decided not to run away to California. Patti's Dad and Mom are being very nice to me and things are OK with me. Patti's Dad gives me a sack and I like that. Sometimes I sleep in it and sometimes I mash it down and sleep on it. I really like sacks. Do you have a sack?

When they eat dinner I stand on a chair at the end of the table and pound my paw on the edge of the table and then they give me special treats. I like the chicken treats best. I like to stand up so I can see over the table anyway but they think it is cute.

When Patti's Mom went into the hospital I visited with Amber for a while and it was awful. Patti has a little girl named Nicole and she carries Amber around with her legs hanging down and she just lets Nicole do it. Amber has gotten so dumb. I hid under the bed and she couldn't get me.
